A nine-screen cinema, five restaurants and 121 homes have been developed as part of The Scene project at Cleveland Place in Walthamstow town centre.
The project is a joint venture between the developer Hill, Waltham Forest Council and Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association. Residents moved into homes between November 2014 and June 2015.
Yum Yum restaurant is due to open at the development this summer, a second premises for the family-run, Thai food outlet – the other is in Stoke Newington, Hackney and claims to be the largest Thai restaurant in Europe.
Proprietor Atique Choudhury said: “We had to respond to sheer weight of requests from loyal customers who kept asking us to come to E17. This is an exciting new chapter for us and we are looking forward to becoming an integral part of the Walthamstow community.”
It will join other chain restaurants such as Nando’s, Pizza Express and Turtle Bay, which has chosen Walthamstow for its second London venue, after Ealing.
