A development in Chingford has won an award for Low Cost Home Ownership Development of the Year.

East Thames’ Mayfield development was announced as one of Inside Housing’s top 60 developments in the country during an award ceremony on 14 October.

The Greater London Authority-funded scheme in Waltham Forest, which started on site in August 2013 and completed in July this year, delivered six shared ownership, three-storey townhouses, along with eight supported living homes and one home to be rented at an affordable rate.

Judges praised the scheme’s “impressive design, both in terms of its architecture, its urban landscaping and insofar as it meets a critical housing need in an innovative way”.

East Thames’ director of development and regeneration, Kevin Harris, said the accolade demonstrated how the organisation had “once again put home ownership in reach of a wider range of buyers”.
