Two new food retailers have opened at The Mall, Walthamstow as part of real estate investor Capital & Regional's £6.5 million refurbishment of the former BHS store, which closed in August 2016.
Turkish restaurant Gökyüzü has leased 604sq m for its third branch in north London, and an outlet of German supermarket Lidl has opened a 1,208sq m store.
Capital & Regional worked to redevelop the space to welcome new occupiers, with the first of these – The Gym - opening last October.
The arrival of Gökyüzü, Lidl, and The Gym Group, has brought more than 90 new jobs into Walthamstow, greater than the number of jobs lost with the closure of BHS, which is believed to be around 70.
Rebecca Bird, general manager at The Mall, said: "This is yet another stage in the exciting transformation of Walthamstow town centre following the recent approval of the plans for a high quality mixed-use scheme that will rejuvenate this important and popular part of the town centre."
