Upgrading Blackhorse Road Station will support the regeneration of the Blackhorse Lane area that is set to benefit residents and businesses, according to Waltham Forest Council leader, Clare Coghill.

The £900,000 project was jointly funded by Transport for London (TfL) and the Greater London Authority, working with the council, and features new ticket barriers and customer information systems.

It also included integrating the station with the upcoming redevelopment of the area and increasing visibility through new lighting and signage.

Speaking at an event to mark the opening of the station Coghill said: "The improved station will integrate with the wider improvements to the area including the planned [upgrade] to the Standard Junction, new housing and commercial developments in the Blackhorse Lane area and new links to the Walthamstow Wetlands.

"It should make it easier for passengers using the station so they have a more pleasant journey."
