Housing

With plans for 18,000 homes in Waltham Forest in the next decade, the borough is growing at pace. Huge growth areas such as Blackhorse Road (identified as one of the mayor’s Housing Zones) and other opportunities for housebuilding in fast developing areas such as Lea Bridge and Leyton will help Waltham Forest achieve these targets.

Return to Reasons to Invest

We want our residents to benefit from this growth so our aim is for 50% of these new homes to be affordable and prioritised for local people. As a council, we can’t address the housing crisis alone or control the housing market prices, but we are proud that we have delivered the highest rate of affordable housing in London at 47% and will ensure that we build as many council homes as possible or facilitate homes which are genuinely affordable, such as at Blackhorse Yard.
